County of Los Angeles Biological Reports

England|Ecology is on the Certified Biological Consultant list for the County of Los Angeles, approved to do all biological reports within the County, including that for review by the Environmental Review Board and Significant Ecological Areas Technical Advisory Committee (SEATAC) Tier 1 and Tier 2. Examples of the types of work completed within the purview of the County include the following:

  • Biological Assessments and Biota Reports: the County’s Biological Assessment format is the most in-depth of their biological reports when outside of a Significant Ecological Area (SEA), with the Biota Report being when a project is proposed within an SEA. England|Ecology’s reports for both formats include a full desktop review of potentially-occurring special status plant and wildlife species, vegetation mapping for a biological study area that includes the project site and an appropriate buffer, and an impact analysis structured per County requirements. England|Ecology’s final Biological Assessments and Biota Reports, including appendices, are in excess of 100 pages.

  • Biological Inventories and Biological Constraints Maps: for some non-SEA projects, a Biological Inventory may be sufficient for permitting. Within an SEA, the Biological Constraints Map is always the first step. Both of these reports, including attachments (such as a detailed map), are typically 15-20 pages.
